Number and times of services
- 1-2 services a month, Sundays at 11 am. Morning rehearsal begins at 10:15 am
- Additional special services during the liturgical year (such as 4:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve)
Number and times of rehearsals
- Rehearsals with youth choirs on the Monday evening prior to the Sunday Mass
Responsibilities
- Play service music (preludes, postludes, and other appropriate music)
- Accompany the congregation during hymn singing
- Accompany the youth choirs at Mass
Qualifications
- Organ (and piano) performance skills at a level suitable for playing and accompanying in worship required
- Music degree (or currently pursuing music degree) preferred
- Experience playing and accompanying in worship preferred

Music Director

Responsibilities
- Attendance at Church Staff meetings
- Selecting music for Sunday Masses and special liturgies throughout the year
- Lead practice each Sunday before 11AM Mass & 1:30PM Mass and for special liturgies
- Accompanying or cantor at Funeral Masses
- Building a music library for use in worship
- Recording psalms, choral music/instrumental arrangements for cantors (English and Spanish)
- Preparing new music for distribution to cantors and instrumentalists for each liturgical season
- Keeping copyrights up to date and reporting music usage
- Supervising, training, mentoring and scheduling accompanists, cantors, and instrumentalist(s)
- Developing a Parish Choir (English)
- Overseeing Choir rehearsals weekly from August to June
- Lining up various instrumentalists or singers to join the choir
- Arranging music; Listening to music/researching musical possibilities
- Maintain music library for choir – database and printed materials
- Consulting with Director of Hispanic Choir
- Creating and communicating rehearsal schedules
- Arranging music folders for the bilingual choir, guitarists, and instrumentalists
- Maintaining music library for choir – database and printed materials
- Developing a Children’s Choir
- Planning Christmas choirs (English & Spanish)
- Planning a Christmas concert or other parish choral event
- Dealing with sound system technical issues in church: maintenance and trouble shooting
- Dealing with microphone issues/screen use in Parish Hall
- Other duties as assigned by Pastor
Qualifications
- Degree in Music required; previous experience in leading a liturgical music ministry program preferred
- Conversant in Spanish; Bi-lingual preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25- 50 pounds

Responsibilities
- Partner with pastoral staff, worship planning committee, and planning team to design and curate worship experiences
- Primary leader, director, and conductor of musical ensembles related to traditional worship including sanctuary choir, handbells, and children’s choir
- Bring innovation to congregational encounter and embodiment of the Holy Spirit through canonical scripture, tradition, reason, and experience
- Extend congregational care to all members and visitors participating in and around this ministry area
- Create an inviting, encouraging, and nurturing environment to the congregation and all volunteers
- Engage with the West U UMC Preschool for developing musical gifts in young children
- Lead and/or supervise volunteers in discipling children through children’s choir, youth choir, girls ensemble, and boys ensemble
- Partner with Director of Children’s Ministry to provide musical leadership for annual Vacation Bible School
- Prayerfully support the church and ministry activities
- Serve as primary leader and recruiter of leaders for annual Christmas Alive! community experience
- Include outward- and community-facing activities of mission & outreach in this ministry area
- Partner with West U UMC’s School of Fine Arts and its families to build relationships and include students in West U UMC worship experiences

- M
aster of Sacred Music preferred, comparable experience and gifts will also be considered - Experience conducting both singing and musical instruments/orchestra
