- Worship Sundays, 9:00 am, with choir rehearsal & handbell practice at 8:00 am before the service
- Midweek services during Advent and Lent
Duties
- Shall be responsible for selecting appropriate music, providing leadership, for and directing the Adult Choir and Handbell Choir at the service regularly scheduled on Sunday mornings or any of the other special Festival Services
- Shall work with the Pastor to ensure appropriate organ and choral music has been selected for services
- Shall have creative freedom to develop new music programs to involve the congregation’s youth and other ministries and outreaches as implemented and approved by the Worship and Music Committee
- We expect the position to require 10 – 15 hours of work per week depending on the season. Fewer hours during the summer when the choirs are not meeting and more hours during Advent, Lent, etc.
Qualifications
- The minimum requirements for this position require the candidate to be synodically trained by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in music or have comparable experience and be able to play the organ and piano

- Work with the Rector (pastor) remotely to select four Hymns for each Sunday from the Episcopal Church Hymnal of 1982
- Offer a prelude and postlude each Sunday appropriate to our worship style
- Use the Church’s organ throughout the week as needed for practice
- Utilize available funding for solo vocalists on Sundays at the discretion of the Rector
Salary

Number and Times of Services
- 8:00 a.m. Sunday Worship Service (usually Rite I – Holy Eucharist)
- Special Services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, and Christmas
- Other special Services may include Lessons and Carols, and Evensong, and as assigned by the Rector
Responsibilities:
- Choose and perform musical selections for services, in collaboration with the rector. To include hymns, anthems, service music, preludes, postludes, and transitional music as needed. This should be done with at least a two-week lead time
- Proof the bulletin to ensure that music selections and lyrics are as provided, as well any pertinent copyright information
- Lead and rehearse choir once during the week (usually Sunday afternoons) and on Sunday morning before 8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist
- Coordinate/budget for and secure hiring of supplemental musicians (e.g., soloists and instrumentalists)
- Schedule and oversee the upkeep of instruments, especially by arranging for regular tunings, etc.
- Assistance with weddings and funerals with first right of refusal and established fees
- Recruit, instruct and encourage new choir members
- Maintain music library inventory
- Maintain a regular schedule of personal rehearsals
- Advance musical excellence at Calvary
- Advance congregational musical participation
- Attend a monthly staff meeting and a biweekly meeting with the Rector (if available depending on other work commitments)
Qualifications:
- Excellence in Organ performance
- Bachelor of Music, Master of Music preferred
- Previous experience conducting a choir is preferred
- Knowledge and experience within the Anglican/Episcopal tradition of worship preferred
- Successful completion of Diocese of Texas training courses, “Safeguarding God’s People” and “Safeguarding God’s Children” and background check

Salary:
- The position is 12-15 hours/week with a salary and two weeks’ vacation.
